FAQ

Here are some answers to questions I am asked frequently....

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP? :)

As I’m sitting here writing, my heart is set on going into pediatrics. My decision may change, but as of right now, I can’t think of anything I would like to do more than treat sweet, tiny little humans for the rest of my life.

WHAT IS A D.O.?

There are many people who are not familiar with D.O. schools. So What is a D.O.?  D.O. stands for doctor of osteopathy. I’m sure you’re more familiar with doctors with an M.D. behind their names… so What is the difference between M.D. and D.O.?

The biggest difference lies in the philosophy.
DOs emphasize preventative and holistic medicine based on these tenets:
1. The body is a unit, and the person represents a combination of body, mind and spirit.
2. The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing and health maintenance.
3. Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.
4. Rational treatment is based on understanding the body unity, self-regulation and the interrelationship of structure and function.
The D.O. philosophy is much more aligned with my beliefs, so I have chosen to only apply to D.O. schools. I am looking forward to the opportunity to become a D.O. in the future! :O)
